Night and Day

After twelve hours on the road with Stella, we finally reached our camp spot just after dark. Wifi is not plentiful along my current route, so I will have to add more pictures later. Here are two shots from where we camped – – the same shot from 11pm and 8am.

Night and Day

There was this neat rock formation along the side of the road, though I will much more impressive features of this nature in Arizona and Utah (stay tuned for some pretty impressive stuff till to come in Nevada).

There is a reason this is called ‘The Loneliest Highway.’

There will be an album for this day. Right now, I am sitting against the wall outside a McDonald’s (easiest wifi) in Ely, Nevada itching to get back on the road. I will leave you with a picture of Stella in the background while I enjoy the camp fire.

Planned Stops on the First Segment of the Trip

I am very excited to get going next week and in preparation, I am testing some of my technology. I created a new Facebook Page and connected my personal Instagram. Also — and I find this very interesting — I am able to add this post to the site via email.

The first stop on Tuesday evening is the Shoe Tree on Hwy 50 in Nevada. I saw this one time before on a previous trip and it just seemed like a good place to break for the evening. I will find a spot a few hundred yards up a nearby dirt road to put my tent up for the night.

On the next day, I am heading for Catherdral Gorge (photo from my last, short visit).

And, finally, on Thursday, I will be spending the whole day in the Valley of Fire.

From there, I make my way to Phoenix for the weekend to spend time with family and see family on the way. I will take time when I have signal on my phone (or wifi) to post pictures, by email (like this) or as I can sit down with my laptop and create some albums.

2021 Western Tour Final Planned Route

Stella and I are chomping at the bit to go.

There will be many side roads (mostly dirt roads) taken along the way. Before any extras, the entire trip is near 3700 miles. The trip will begin on Tuesday afternoon, May 18 and end the late evening of May 30.

When there is opportunity — and wifi — photo albums will be uploaded along the way and some pictures posts to Facebook. I will also try to post 3D map video segments along the way, but I will have to add actual ride footage once I am home again. I think the plan will be to add a video section to the site with links back to the corresponding photo albums.

I hope you enjoy following along with me on this adventure!

The Next Adventure begins soon

On the afternoon of May 19th, I am heading out on a trip that will take me more than 3500 miles when all is said and done. It is going to be a magnificent journey for Stella and I. We hope you follow along when we can put pictures up.
